Incorrect location and contact information can be detrimental to any business but especially a new or small business. Be very careful when filling out your information and be sure to check, recheck and update when necessary.

2) Categories and Attributes

Be thorough when adding categories but try not to over complicate things, use sub categories to keep things simple. When adding tag’s it’s ok to be exhaustive with them, each tag increases your chance of showing up in a search.

3) Add Images

Images are a great way to attract customers. It draws attention to your page. Be sure to add clear and relevant images of either your logo, building location or products. Images can easily be updated with this tool so keep up to date.

4) Add Your Opening Hours

Keep your opening hours accurate. If there is an emergency such as a snow day and you need to close your brick and mortar store, then let your online hours reflect this. Inaccurate hours can annoy customers and send them looking elsewhere.

5) Strive To Get Reviews

Reviews add legitimacy to your business. It shows prospective customers that others are using your site and having a positive experience. We’ll discuss negative reviews below but be sure not to just delete them all!

When dealing with negative reviews it’s best to take action as soon as you are aware. Do not delete the review but do reply. Show your customers that you have acknowledged there is a problem and you are willing to go over and above to ensure customer satisfaction. Turn a negative into a positive.

Keep your customers up to date with what’s going on with your business. Tell them about any upcoming events or promotions. This is also a great technique to help your SEO rankings.
